Brass knuckles are an iconic weapon in American culture. It is the modern equivalent of what might be depicted as the medieval cudgel or club. When used, knuckle dusters act as a deterrent against potential violence and often show solidarity with other members of gangs and criminal groups. They also serve to protect against bone or tooth fractures when used during brawls.

Broadly speaking, there are two basic types of knuckles, one which is comprised of several pieces held together by a chain (which prevents easy removal from the hand) and one that just has two small metal balls attached to each other at the end of a chain-like wire (which allows for easy removal from the hand).

Further, these knuckles are developed into some modern forms having unique characteristics. You can choose any type of knuckle according to your taste and need. These modern forms of knuckle dusters are:

1. Self-Defense Knuckle

A knuckle duster, as its name implies, is a simple tool that you wear around your knuckles and it has round metal pieces inside. Your only task is to keep it on your knuckles at all times. You can use this tool to punch someone who attempts to attack you, and he will most likely fall down to it.

Unlike other self-defense weapons, this one won’t even kill the person you are trying to defend yourself against. The only way to escape the scene or call for assistance is to wait until he has been injured for a while.

2. Keychain with Knuckle

Keychains have been around for centuries as an easily accessible tool to carry everyday items from around your home until they’re needed. Though there isn’t sufficient evidence to pinpoint who invented them first, their use can be traced back to ancient Greece where they were used as money holders since coins were too small to be carried in pockets.

But there is an advanced type of keychain, a knuckle duster keychain is invented to use for self-defense and the benefits of owning one (both in self-defense or for fun) is unbelievable. I’ll also briefly discuss the legality of carrying a keychain brass knuckle. It is common to use for defensive purposes and it’s worth buying one for your own self-defense purposes.

3. Knuckle Duster Knife

A knuckle knife is a special type of knife having a blade at the end side that covers a fist. The term is most notably associated with the dangerous practice of bare-knuckle boxing.

The purpose of these types of brass knuckles is to protect against bone fractures and other injuries, while still allowing the hand to be used in punching. This type of knuckle was worn by professional boxers on both hands, with one on each ring finger.

They were made up out of thin metal sheets that either were folded over lengthwise and riveted onto a wooden or metal base at either side, or had short lengths of heavy wire running through holes in them for strength.

4. Belt Buckle Knuckle

These knuckle dusters are made of metal or plastic and have a striking surface to knock out an assailant’s front teeth with one blow. The name comes from their use as a weapon. The belt buckle version has the advantage of being less conspicuous than the knife-blade variety, even when it is not wielded as a weapon.

The three basic types are single-edge knuckle dusters, double edge knuckles, and the “triple edge” which has two sets of sharp edges on one side. These knuckles are widely used for self defense and carried by both men and women. These brass knuckles are easy to hide so many people prefer to use them for safety needs.

Best Self Defense Option Nowadays!

You should carry fist-sized brass knuckles in your pocket to use if you are going out and feel threatened. Many people, when confronted by a stranger with a knife or knuckles, may be unsure what to do. Sometimes the only way to make yourself less vulnerable is by taking preventive measures like carrying knuckles for self defense.

Commonly used today as an urban fashion statement, these metal objects were originally crafted for combat. They are relatively easy to conceal and can make you a lot more physically imposing should the need arise. However, most law enforcement officials warn against their use because of their potential consequences if they get caught with them on your person during a confrontation.
